A picture of an assistant basketball coach

Darrell Murphy Jr.

I Love Basketball and I Love Coaching! I’ve been coaching for 15 years, and I have trained over 500 athletes from professional level all the way down elementary school. My drive has always been to aid others in development whether it is in sports or in life. In my position I am able to provide direction and active execution, through clear communication and individual reflection which creates a better understanding, builds rapport, and teaches how to execute not just in basketball but In life as a whole.

As for myself I started playing basketball really late. I believe the first team I tried out for was 8th grade at Chinook Middle School and was cut. That was the best thing that could’ve happened to me as it sparked a sudden interest to figure it out. I went on to play 4 years of football and basketball at Tyee High School and 1 year at Mount Rainier High School where I graduated from in 2006. In 2008 I walked on at North Seattle C.C and played there for a year and decided I want to become a coach. I still participate in Adult Leagues and Adult Tournaments around the Seattle area. I also won Spokane's HoopFest 6ft and Under Elite division in 2019.

Being able to provide someone with what I missed and that is; to feel heard, understood, and taught how to do not only told what to do growing up. Someone who not only knows the game but can get out there to show you it.

I live and coach by the motto “Progression is key” meaning everyday we step towards bettering ourself to be a progressive us today and tomorrow.
